AUDITION NOTICE

HAUNTED CIRCUS: An Immersive Aerial Cabaret


Step into the shadows.

This October, High Expectations Aerial Arts will transform our performance space into an immersive haunted experience where audiences travel through three eerie environments and encounter live aerial performances along the way.

Guests will move through the space in small groups to experience each environment up close—creating a theatrical, haunted-house-style cabaret unlike a traditional stage show.

SHOW DETAILS

Performance Dates:
Friday, October 23
Saturday, October 24
(Three performances each night)

Rehearsals:

Sundays from 5:15 - 7 p.m. from August 16 - October 18

This will be set up as one 6-week series ($150) and one 4-week series ($100).

Tech Week/Dress Rehearsals:

Week of October 19

Format:

Performers will create short (2-3 minutes max) acts designed specifically for one of the following environments:

🩺 Hospital / Asylum

Disturbing treatments, forgotten patients, strange experiments, institutional horror.

⚰️ Graveyard

Ghosts, mourners, spirits, rituals, forgotten souls, midnight encounters.

🕯️ Attic

Hidden memories, old toys, secrets, possession, things left behind.

Each environment will feature 3–4 acts, and audiences will rotate through the experience.

Theme Requirements:

  • Your act and music must clearly fit into one of the three environments

  • Character, movement quality, costuming ideas, and apparatus choices should support the atmosphere

  • Performers must be comfortable performing in an intimate space and be prepared to directly interact with audience members

Act Format:

  • Solo acts

  • Duo acts

  • Group acts

Group acts will be prioritized over solos


AUDITION DETAILS

Audition Date:
Saturday, August 1, from 4-6:30 p.m.

Please Prepare:

  • 2-minute routine that demonstrates your artistry, character, and endurance on your apparatus of choice (please note that you may have to be willing to work on a different apparatus for the show, depending on what we need)

  • Brief concept description for your audition act (2–3 sentences) (please note that any characters created for the audition may or may not be featured in the show)

  • Music

  • Environment selection (Hospital/Asylum, Graveyard, or Attic)
